Essential Oils: Dilutions & Doses
For many people, the term “essential oil” is familiar, but their purpose and use oftentimes is associated with an unconventional and progressive way of healing. However, essential oils were one of the first forms of medicine used by man. Thousands of years ago, ancient Egyptian and Chinese civilizations harnessed their powerful healing properties to aide in relief of common diseases and mental ailments.
Today, essential oils remain a prominent form of physical and emotional therapy in the natural world. Proper application and use of essential oils can at times be an overwhelming process. Who makes the best oils? How do I know what is high quality? Should I buy local? Should I buy organic? And how do I use them? In this article, we will show you where to find affordable, high quality essential oils (locally!) and offer a plethora of simple, everyday uses.
First, let’s talk about quality. Unlike the Egyptians, we have many different essential oil companies to pick from. With that, comes a wide variety of philosophies, methods, and consequently, qualities. So how do you choose? Luckily for Minnesotans, we have a local essential oil company, Wyndmere Naturals, located right in Minnetonka, MN.
Wyndmere Naturals is committed to quality, and they do this by starting from the source. Unlike many companies, they never source based on the cheapest price. Rather, they choose plants that are flourishing in their natural habitat. From there, they ensure proper harvest, and the extraction is done by skilled distillers. Whenever possible, they source indigenous plants that are pesticide free and either grown organically or sustainably wild-crafted They package all of their oils in cobalt blue glass bottles that preserve their potency. They never use synthetic fillers or dilute with cheaper oils, which hinder the effectiveness and integrity of the oils. From start to finish, the oils are treated with care and compassion, aiming to provide consumers with a high quality product at an affordable price. You can find Wyndmere products (including single note essential oils, Synergistic oil blends, soaps, lotions and hydrosols) at your local Fresh and Natural Foods in the Wellness Department.
