Summer Rainbow Shake
In the summer when kids are home and busy playing, it can be hard to get them to sit down to enjoy a nutritious meal (at least that was the case with me). When I was a kid, I was more interested in being in the pool and out in the sun than sitting down. If I had had a smoothie like these Summer Rainbow Shakes though, I would have come in to eat lunch a lot faster. I loved anything frozen as do most kids. Plus what is better than something like a healthy shake filled with fruit and veggies that tastes like dessert but is nutritious?! Plus this one catches the eye with the pretty colors. No need to mention that the green comes from spinach and kale. Although this is designed for kids to get the nutrition they need, it is perfect for adults as well, because who doesn’t enjoy things that taste like ice cream in the summer?

In a high speed blender, combine 1/3 of the bananas, 1/3 of the protein powder, 1/4 cup of the milk and the kiwis, spinach and a few drops stevia (if desired). Blend until smooth and pour into 2 tall glasses.
Rinse out the blender and add the pineapple, half the remaining protein, 1/4 cup milk, pineapple, turmeric and a few drops stevia (if desired). Blend until smooth, then pour over the green layer in the glasses. Add the strawberries and beet to the blender along with the remaining protein powder, milk and a few drops stevia (if desired) and blend until smooth. Pour over the yellow layer in the glasses and serve!
